Therapeutic or relaxation? Which massage is best for you?

Often we receive bookings for a relaxing massage even though in reality the client expects or would need more of a therapeutic massage.
Here is a short description that could help you better choose your message according to your needs!

  • To begin, here are some important questions to ask yourself: Am I specifically looking for relaxation?
  • Am I looking for a more comforting touch or pressure?
  • Do I have any tensions that I would like to work on and resolve?
  • Am I prepared to experience discomfort or pain during the massage?
  • Am I looking for more global or specific tension work?

RELAXATION MASSAGE:  includes more global, enveloping and reassuring maneuvers. Relaxation massage is synonymous with globality and gentleness. For the whole body or adapted to a particular segment. Particularly indicated for the most stressful, anxious and mentally demanding moments. A beautiful inner peace sets in as well as a real physical and intellectual letting go. The goal of the relaxation massage is to relax, to relax the mind. After a real relaxation massage, you feel as if you had taken a month off. Do not underestimate the benefits of relaxation massage, it provides a necessary psychological relaxation to the brain. This type of massage is right for you if you want to tame touch or if you are looking for a moment of relaxation. Choose the relaxation massage to clear your head, to force yourself to stop for a moment.

THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE:  will often have a more targeted objective to a problem, a region, or a particular segment and will work on specific tensions (localized, recurrent, painful, etc.). During the therapeutic massage, the therapist will work on areas of tension so discomfort or pain is to be expected. Therapeutic massage therefore aims to relieve a specific problem. The massage is no longer global but localized. Here we are not looking to relax the mind but to reduce muscle or joint pain. This type of massage suits you when you are looking for a solution to a specific muscular problem.

REALITY:  It should also be specified that in reality, a so-called “relaxation” massage can have therapeutic effects and conversely, a so-called “therapeutic” massage can bring about relaxation. Indeed, in both cases, the massage has the ability to harmonize tensions, stimulate the person’s self-regulating functions and maximize the body’s capacity for action. But it is important to distinguish a session of the more relaxing-relaxation type from a session more specific to the work of therapeutic tensions.

It is very important that your therapist is aware of your expectations.
